This page outlines a list of considerations we used that influence our design decisions when working on Vaxx.nz

Secondary considerations that will affect your designs are

  • Technical (What can our open source contributors and maintainers accomplish? / What are they willing to?)
  • Content / Data (What are our data sources actually sending us? Is the data easy to use?)

Adapted from JJG Elements of design

User Needs

We are solving for one key user need - to find and get a vaccination.

We solve for two key workflows

  • Get a Vaccination Today: You want to get vaccinated today without filling any forms or making a booking, but you don't know where.
  • Get a Vaccination in the future: You want to get vaccinated at some point in the future, at a time that is convenient for you, and you don't mind making a booking.

Functional Requirements

  • See a list of available vaccination bookings near me that are happening soon
  • Define where I am with a location filter

Interaction Design

Vaccination Today

  • Visit page > pick an eligible location that offers jabs > find out where this location is > physically go get vaxxed

Vaccination In the future

  • Visit page > pick day you want to get vaxxed > find venue and timeslot > make booking on bookmyvaccine > physically go get vaxxed when the booking is due

Interface design

  • Header - home logo, misc links and language picker
  • Explainer - what can i do here? get vaxxed?
  • Filter - set where i am in the world and how far i am willing to go
  • Available slots - how many slots are available...
    • Today (venues) - right now without a booking
    • In the future (calendar) - in the future with a booking?
  • footer - misc links
