Tentative Agenda

10:30 Welcomes and Overview

Our host, MIT Media Lab Professor Pentland will open the event by framing key issues, ideas and questions, followed by a handful of topic-centered sessions about MIT projects and innovations. Tentatively, MIT Sloan Professor Simon Johnson may also be able to join us for some portion of the day, bringing a uniquely valuable perspective on global development, innovation and entrepreneurship.

10:45 Lightning Talks and Roundtable Discussions

Lightning talks will explore innovative capabilities of analytics and blockchain technologies for economic development and community-focused financial services, highlighting opportunities in the context of lending processes, operations and success measures. The talks will serve as "Firestarters" to catalyze discussion of key topics, questions and ideas.

  • Automated Loan Funds and Blockchain Border Bank (Human Dynamics/DCI)
  • Self-Issued Blockchain Identity Hypothesis (Human Dynamics)
  • Credit-Collective (DCI/Human Dynamics)
  • Crypto-Solar Security Hypothesis (DCI)

The ideas and questions surfaced during this session will form a basis for attendees to form smaller breakout groups after lunch.

Optional Dinner and Reception

Attendees are invited to continue the conversations that evening at an optional social dinner at a local venue, to be decided and announced at the close of the day. Immediately following the event (4:30-5:30), attendees are invited to an optional reception at the Cambridge Innovation Center for demonstrations of relevant blockchain and analytics technologies and networking with "civic hackers" who volunteer with organizations like yours to rapidly develop projects with open source and open standards on GitHub.

This MIT Media Lab event is a collaboration of the Human Dynamics Lab and the Digital Currency Initiative.
