AZ-400 Exam Prep

This material is intented to prepare you for the Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert certification.

This repo includea curriculum, references, study guides, and other material that can be used to prepare for the exam.

About the exam

Exam AZ-400: Designing and Implementing Microsoft DevOps Solutions tests a broad set of DevOps knowledge and generally doesn't dive deep, but does require knowledge of quite a few details related to Azure DevOps, Git, GitHub and 3rd Party tools

This exam is a part of the DevOps Engineer Expert certification. Microsoft exams AZ-102 or AZ-204 is a pre-req to the certification so you can expect to see some questions related to Azure Architecture and Azure Development on the exam.

General Approach

• 12 sessions of maximum 2 hour class style sessions Schedule
• Presentation plus practice
• Emphasize hands on prectice to re-inforce the content (learn by doing)
• Demos when helpful to illustrate concepts
• General class outline
  • Introduce a topic
  • Reveiw the why, the what
  • A little how
  • Excercises take the next step

Prerequisites

• Experience both administering and developing in Azure, with strong skills in at least one of these areas
• Experience implementing both GitHub and Azure DevOps solutions

Tools and Prep

The following tools and accounts will be used in these training sessions. You are free to use a code editor of choice. Note that we will be using VS Code specific extensions for git, Azure, Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions and potentially others.

1. VS Code or comparable text editor
   • list of recommended extensions
2. Azure DevOps free account
3. Azure Account (VSE dev/test should be plenty)
4. Personal GitHub account
5. Azure CLI
6. Azure DevOps CLI
7. GitHub CLI
8. Docker Desktop

Some familiarity with coding and coding practices is expected, however, deep development experience is not required
