Always loved NOLF, but can't get it working in VR :(.
I downloaded the game from here:
http://nolfrevival.tk/
I'm running Windows 11. I'm not sure how to disable the included mods.
Anyway, I extracted NOLF2-real-Mod R3 into c;\games\nolf\ and then I ran lithtech.exe but I'm getting a 'Missing Shell DLL' error.
When I open NOLF.exe I choose my primary display and the 1280x960 resolution, but nothing happens when I click the Launch button.
I'm connecting my pc to my Quest 2 using Virtual Desktop, maybe this is related?

Hey, glad somebody is still playing with this mod! I know that the Quest 2 works, but I'm not sure if anybody's ever tried this with VD. Shouldn't be a problem though, because NOLF2 doesn't use alternate eye rendering.

Your issue is probably tied to the "Revival" version. Before installing my mod you must delete the "Game" subfolder that Revival puts into the NOLF2 folder. It should be around 1.8 GB IIRC. The "Game" subfolder is only needed for the level editor, and it contains an outdated, conflicting library that will break parts of my mod.

Hi Luke, there's no "Game" subfolder I'm afraid.

These are the steps I took:

  • I download this version "No One Lives Forever 1 GOTY Edition PC Full Download. This version of NOLF comes with all patches applied (version 1.04 game of the year edition), and widescreen resolution support", and I specifically select this one: "For Windows 10 & Windows 11 - Modern PCs - NEW" which has the following comment "The new Windows 10 and Windows 11 version comes with the modernizer patch "NOLF_Modernizer_1.006_Patch_3.1.7z" already pre-applied.

  • The downloaded file is called "NOLF1_With_Modernizer_Patch.exe" and it's 453MB large. When I run this .exe everything is extracted to a new folder "C:\Games\NOLF".

  • Inside there's a .bat "NOLF_POST_INSTALL.bat", which is the 'Game Registry Fixer' (fixer is used to create default registry keys so that you don't have to reinstall the game to get it to work). Although I was pretty sure this batch file was run automatically at the end during the execution of the "NOLF1_With_Modernizer_Patch.exe" that I downloaded, just in case, I ran the .bat again.

  • But as I mentioned before, inside the "C:\Games\NOLF" directory, I can't find a "Game" subfolder. The largest file that I can find is "NOLF.REZ" which is 600MB large and is located directly under C:\Games\NOLF.

I hope you have another idea to get this running? I'm dying to play this in VR!

Many thanks in advance!
Kris

Hey Kris, this is probably going to be very disappointing, and I'm sorry that I didn't catch the reference to "NOLF.exe" in your first comment: the mod is for NOLF2! It won't work with the first game :-|
