Error: File to import not found or unreadable: bourbon

Awesome boiler plate, but if I try to use sass instead of scss then I get an error when trying to run gulp.

I made some changes to the gulpfile.js and everything continued to work as expected, but when I tried to changed the styles.scss to styles.sass (removed the semicolons) then it breaks and I get the error message:

Error: File to import not found or unreadable: bourbon

What could cause this?
