I was looking for the CMIP5 CVs in a similar format to CMIP6. It looks like you have been putting them together here.

There is a backburner work in progress to get this (CMIP5) and CMIP3_CVs set up following the same template as CMIP6_CVs. It's not a high priority but is a work in progress.

I'll keep a look out. Where are the current sources of each of the CMIP3 and CMIP5 CVs?

All of those "sources" are more or less buried in the file metadata, as this is the only way of rebuilding all the entries that occurred, rather than the loosely defined plans
