the defaults suck now and demand a lot of repetition. IE the theme api allows for customizing the color of the text of an edge when the edge is focused, but 99% of the time, i dont want that color to change from its theme color. So i specify i want a gray edge text color, but then it boinks to white when focused cus i didnt also specify that I wanted gray edge focused text color. BOO!
