app-staging-synthesizer: CDK Pipelines Support

The app-staging-synthesizer currently does not support CDK Pipelines.

Out of curiosity - does this mean that it is not possible to use app-staging-synthesizer in cross account deployments? I am attempting to deploy from a github actions workflow by assuming a toolchain account role that grants the necessary deployment privileges. This has worked fine up until now that I want to use the app-staging-synthesizer. I get the error:

Could not assume role in target account using current credentials (which are for account <toolchain account>) User: arn:aws:sts::<toolchain account>:assumed-role/GitHubActionsRole/GitHubActions is not authorized to perform: sts:AssumeRole on resource: arn:aws:iam::<test-account-id>:role/cdk-<my-stack>-file-role-us-east-1 . Please make sure that this role exists in the account. If it doesn't exist, (re)-bootstrap the environment with the right '--trust', using the latest version of the CDK CLI.
