Add portrait orientation card display for AZ Person #3757
Comments
I would suggest changing the default for new sites to portrait. I don't think card should have been set as the default. I would even expect most existing sites that use the default view display could benefit from a change to portrait instead of letting heads get cut off all over the place. Examples where changing to portrait could be an improvement: |
Having it be default on new sites sounds reasonable to me. Though if we did end up making it default on all sites, this site would be a good one to test the change on since they have landscape orientation staff photos: https://rec.arizona.edu/staff |
Motivation
Many faculty/staff have portrait orientation professional headshots taken for their department's staff listings. Portrait orientation headshots generally result in zoomed in or cut off faces in the AZ Person card grid displays.
Proposed Resolution
Modifying the default view display "Grid Page" is undesirable as it would impact existing sites, some of which may have opted for landscape orientation photos of staff to address the aspect ratio issue. Recommend adding a new display mode and view display so that sites can benefit without adversely impacting other sites.
(I am connecting with our UX team for a recommended aspect ratio, will update ticket with ratio)
