Slack Window

As mentioned in the time window section, the Abacus pipeline can reject usage older than a predefined amount of time. The time interval that allows submission of late usage is called a Slack Window.

The Slack window is configured through SLACK environment variable for renewer, accumulator, aggregator and reporting applications. The default value is 10 minutes.

The Abacus Integrator can configure the exact value of the slack window. We recommend setting the value to 3 days (SLACK=3D).

Please consider the following aspects when changing the SLACK value:

• usage older than the slack window will be rejected
• any downtime of Abacus or Resource Provider should not exceed the slack window. Otherwise usage will be rejected/lost.
• when integrating with a billing system, to get an invoice on 5th of the month you need slack < 5 days
