Because Laravel 6 is the current Long Term Support (LTS) version

Like I mentioned in #16 the develop branch is working on a brand new release (see #8). It’s not yet available as a tagged release and won’t be until it’s ready, and I’m not sure on the timeframe for that.

Leave this with me for a bit, I’m not sure whether I want to continue supporting the older releases going forward. I understand where you’re coming from in regards to 6 being LTS, would like to see how incompatible they are. Will try and get the CI back into gear too.
