"Ignore" / "Hide all messages from this user" not working as expected #7831

Steps to reproduce

In a public room containing the user to ignore:

  1. click the room name
  2. click the "n members" navbar, under "Other"
  3. click the user you want to ignore
  4. click "Hide all messages from this user"
  5. confirm by clicking "Yes" when prompted

potential additional steps that don't seem to make a difference to the issue:

  • relaunching the app
  • logging out and back in
  • reinstalling the app

Outcome

What did you expect?

all messages, mentions, quotes, and read receipts from this user would no longer be displayed.

What happened instead?

messages from this user are no longer displayed, however,

  • quotes of this user
  • mentions of this user
  • read receipts from this user

are still displayed.
