Computer with a TigerVNC server session (a second xsession) running on port 5902.
Okular starts and works fine in this VNC session.
But any file chooser operation (Open, Save as) will open the file chooser dialog on the physical screen (not in the VNC session).
This issue seems to be unique to the Okular flatpak (or KDE flatpak apps?!) because I run many flatpak apps (such as Gimp, Inkscape) and no other flatpak app that I use has this problem. I attach a screenshot with Okular running in VNC on port 5902 but the file chooser dialog has popped-up in the VNC session running on port 5900 (5900 is the same xsession that is running on the physical screen).

Can you try to reproduce this with another KDE App from Flathub? This might be an https://invent.kde.org/plasma/xdg-desktop-portal-kde bug.

@zkeng doesn't seem to get the KDE dialogs, so he's not using xdg-desktop-portal-kde, it's possibly gnome's?

Thank you for taking the time to respond!
I installed and tested with the Gwenview flatpak from Flathub as well and the file chooser dialog pops up on the physical screen (instead of the VNC session) in exactly the same manner.
It is correct that I do not use KDE as my DE (custom desktop with openbox WM), so I guess the file chooser dialog is the default one used for most flatpaks if you are not running KDE. Probably the Gnome implementation. Does this mean the issue should be reported elsewhere?

Indeed, might be an issue in the xdg-desktop-portal-gnome or -gtk.

I posted the same issue here:
flatpak/xdg-desktop-portal-gtk#376
Hope this was the right thing to do?!
