I am running speech recognition at boot. I receive this error in log:

arecord has exited with error code 1

This works perfectly if I run the script from VNC and direct HDMI monitor. This even doesn't work from SSH.
I could not find any relevant solution after googling. This also happens with sox recorder.

I'm getting the same thing, even trying to run the basic example from the README.
