Open terminal directly by typing url in the address bar #664

Thank you for opening your first issue in this project! Engagement like this is essential for open source projects! 🤗 |
I think this can be related to jupyterhub/firstuseauthenticator#39 where the firstuseauthenticator is may ignore the initial URL after redirecting to the login screen or similar. There is a need for more information to pin this issue to a cause, and it is likely to be resolved by other efforts such as #264, due to that I'll go for a close at this point to reduce the maintenance burden. |
Until recently, our users were able to access terminal directly by typing in the browser address bar (for example
https://our.domain.edu/user/username/terminals/1
). If the terminal did not exist, it'd be started and if did exist, the page would just open with the last state. After a recent reinstall of both the OS (ubuntu18) and tljh, we can't do that any more. It shows a blank page with the logo, and the logout and control panel buttons.
I found the previous functionality quite useful, so I am searching for a way to enable it again.
Thanks.
PS: I should mention that the main route to a terminal does exists: New -> terminal from the landing page for a new one, and through "Running" tab for an existing one.
