@kofke - here's a potential replacement of the first figure; I tried to just duplicate what you had but fix the resolution and make it vector graphics and so you can easily edit.
I shared it with you via Google Drive; you should be able to edit it via draw.io and export as PDF to generate updated versions if you like.
