How "easy" it would be to write a NoSQL compatibility layer&

First, I just heard about Lavabit and this open source project - congrats - I'm very excited.

Now, I want to implement a small email service for a couple of people including me.

We are using RethinkDB as our main database because it scale so well!
Would it be possible to make a small extention that allow NoSQL database to be used? I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that.

Also, thanks for developing a modern mail server! We wre deeply in need of this!
