Hello, what is the state of the whole project? Is the new private protocol already usable? Do lavabit have any plans to get help from non-profit internet groups to help developing and spreading the protocol (this would be the way I think)?

Things have certainly gone a bit quiet lately.

The world needs this project, this protocol and software. So please, keep it going. Please make it an open standard and if you need money for developers just make a crowdfunding.
There is no one else doing a project like this.

There was a crowdfunding way back when and there was a fund raiser not so long ago on
https://republic.co/lavabit . They should be able to show something for that. Updates are way too rare.

We hired an Indian software development company last year, which claimed to have C developers "ready to go" ... but it turned out to be a fraud. I was supposed to spend six months in Delhi training the team members. Instead I spent six months waiting for them to hire said developers, before I finally terminated the contract. We're in the process of suing to get back our deposit/expenses.

That said we still have most of the money from our raise last year, and we've been researching our options. In all likelihood I'll be hiring a couple of people in Austin or Dallas once the pandemic ends.

So yes the project is still active. Just progressing slowly.
