FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This is the list of Frequently asked questions for Jockey. It is intended to serve as a self-service utility document. This is to aid new users or already existing users of Jockey. This document may be updated from time to time to suit any new changes to the software as new developments or changes will be implemented.

  1. What is Jockey?

Jockey is a music player for Android based on Google's Material Design standards. The point of Jockey is to be a simple, lightweight media player with features designed for music enthusiasts and casual listeners alike.

  1. What are the features of Jockey?

Jockey is designed with a lot of features that are not common in every other music player. The features are;

  • Customizable interface with 81 color combinations to choose from
  • Last.fm integration for retrieving artist images and descriptions - Smart Playlists with fully customizable rules
  • Custom equalizers
  • Gapless playback
  • Home screen widgets
  • sleep timer

Jockey also contains basic features expected in a music player which include;

  • playlist editing
  • lockscreen controls and artwork
  • fluid navigation between all of your content
  1. How do I create a create a playlist?

To create a playlist on Jockey, navigate to the playlist tab by swiping left or right. On the playlist, tab click the plus (+) sign below and two options will pop up Smart Playlist and Playlist. Click the plus sign beside playlist, input playlist name and click on create.

  1. What is a smart playlist?

Smart playlist as the name implies is a playlist that automatically sorts and adds music to the list according to customized rules or parameters set.

  1. Can I import and export playlists on Jockey?

No, playlists can neither be imported nor exported.

  1. How can I add songs to a playlist?

Songs can be added to a playlist from any of the tabs. Songs, Artists, Albums, Genres. To add a song, simply click the 3 dots beside the song title and select the "Add to Playlist" option and select the desired playlist you wish the song to be added to.

  1. Can I add highlight multiple songs at once to add a playlist?

No, the highlight function is not yet implemented on Jockey music player. However, when an artist, album or genre containing multiple songs are added to a playlist all the songs contained are added.

  1. Can I sort tracks?

Only tracks contained in a playlist can be sorted

  1. What does include/exclude folder function do? This function allows you to either include a folder a to be scanned and added to the music library. When a folder is excluded the music files in it won't be available in the music library.

  2. How can I include or exclude a folder from my music library?

  • Access Jockey player settings by clicking the 3 dots on the top right side of the app and selecting settings.
  • Scroll down to library and select either to include or exclude.
  • Click the plus(+) button and click on the folder you wish to include or exclude then click select.

  1. How do I remove an included or excluded folder from the list? On the include/exclude list, click the 3 dots beside the folder and select the remove option.

  2. Do I have to manually scan new tracks into the music player?

No, Jockey music player automatically scans library for new tracks.

  1. How do I search for a song or playlist?

To search for a playlist, the search icon can be found at the top bar of the app. Type the song and search.

  1. What is sleep timer?

The sleep timer is a feature that shuts down a device or an app after a preset time has elapsed. On Jockey music player, this feature is intended to let users listen to their favorite music while they sleep. The player shuts down after time has elapsed.

  1. Where is the sleep timer feature found and How can I use the sleep timer feature?

The sleep timer feature option is only visible on the now playing page when the 3 dots on the top right side is clicked. To use the sleep timer, click on the 3 dots on the top right side select sleep timer and move the pointer on the roll to set time. The maximum time is 120 minutes(2 hours)

  1. Does Jockey music player contain ads?

No, the app doesn't contain any ads or unnecessary pop-ups

  1. Do I have to pay for any feature on Jockey music player ?

No, all the features and tools on Jockey music player are available for free.

  1. What device operating system can use Jockey?

Jockey is an android software meaning Jockey is only available to users using an a device running on Android OS. Android 5.0+

  1. Where can I download Jockey Music Player?
