hi,
every time I try to open an .otf in Font Validator I get this error.
Maybe i'm doing something wrong. Any tip?

Looks a lot like HinTak#52 - is your computer in a non-English locale?

Yes, Portugal

Tough question. Wikipedia says we use comma in Portugal.
I don't know, I use both depending on the situation.

It worked fine when I restarted my Macbook in English. Still, is there any chance of fixing it so it could work also in Portuguese?

Thanks for testing. I think the issue is well-understood... Just need to find some time to put in the fix and make a new release. I think @schriftgestalt wants the code-signing bug fix soon too...

@franciscotorress, I had the same issue (in French). After testing some settings: apparently if you also work with Windows 10 through Parallel Desktop, you don't have to change the language but just the Region/Country as Great-Britain or whatever english speaking country (and my windows and mac are still displayed in French). It can be a solution to avoid having your entire Mac in English.

@RosaWagner I'm running FontValidator straight on MacOS (mojave), so I'm not using Parallel Desktop. Still, I will try that same solution later and see if it works for me. Thanks

I fixed the problem yesterday, tested for Russian and French locale. Most likely the same thing with Portugal. We are trying to release a new GUI update for Mac OS X, but having problems with requirements for code signing on recent Mac OS X at the moment.

The code signing issue is HinTak#53 . If you are happy to run the command line, it works... But there should be a new GUI release in a few days, hopefully.

This could be closed, with https:/HinTak/Font-Validator/releases/tag/FontVal-2.1.6 out.
