👉 commons is a git submodule.

I just experienced the very same issue with git submodules with vscode 1.61.0. Very confusing with a project where the same submodule is being used in multiple apps. First instance of the submodule shows correct branch (and a list of branches which can be checked out) while the 2nd instance just shares its name with the main project's branch name (as shown above).

I downgraded it to 1.60.2 to ease my needs.

If you follow the advice at #134638 (comment) after installing 1.61 does it solve the problem?
