As reported by a user:
After calculating a phylogeny (via GUI) the log info on the right hand side of the window can not be selected and thus not copied (copy&paste). Furthermore, no log file could be found. From the documentation it is not clear in which directoy the log file will be created.

There are two parts to the issue:

  1. non-selectability of log output
  2. unknown location of the log file

Regarding 1.) I was unable to reproduce on my machine. (Linux 4.14.91, NixOS 18.09, openjdk version "1.8.0_152-release"). For me the log output was selectable and copy&paste worked fine. So this might depend on the host system or version of java. I assume that this is also not an important feature if 2.) is fixed.

So regarding 2.) In fact the log file will be created in the designated "Output directory" with the file name bcgTree.log. However, I agree that this is currently poorly documented. Actually, it is even incorrect as the README currently states:

Further the log file (/log) contains all executed commands and their output.
