goal

To facilitate the design of templates.

design

A minimalist canvas with hierarchy drawn as in Windows Explorer/OSX Finder corresponding to the templates.yaml and inventory.yaml configuration files.

ux

A user creates an inventory and launches the GUI. The GUI will be drawn blank, until a templates.yaml is found and automatically redraws every time the files is saved, visualising what the templates looks like.

sharing

The designer may then be used to snapshot a template and share a visual version of templates.yaml alongside the file. This same mechanism can then be reused in the online database in order to provide an overview of the contained directory structure.
