Expose the default vertical ordering of different types of elements to the user, and allow us to modify it.
(Note: this is not to be confused with the stacking order property on elements, which affects the Z direction, not vertical.)
Problem to be solved
For example - in my scores, I have several cases where stave text and a chord symbol are both attached to the same note:
By default, the stave text appears above the chord symbol. However, I would like it the other way round - currently, I have to manually move the chord symbol up and the stave text down every time this scenario occurs.
This is the same for any other combination of elements where the default vertical ordering does not match what is actually required. A way to change the default vertical ordering would avoid having to manually adjust elements each time.
