I have been using Hmaster for years. Now I got a MacBook at work and can't find a tool which is as good as hamster. Do you plan a release for other platforms than Gnome ?

Hello Bernhard,

part of the effort to refactor the old codebase to facilitate portability. The general idea is to have a solid core that client devs can utilize to build native applications for their target platform.

That being said, three less general answers come to mind:

  • While design-language wise hamster-gtk tries to follow GTK3+/GNOME guidelines (for better or worse is a different discussion) the code itself is really not bound to GNOME at all. IIRC ppl (@jtojnar ?) have had a proof of concept setup running on mac.
  • I personally do not have any skills/plans to provide a native MacOS client, but the project itself would most certainly welcome any contribution in this direction
  • We do however want to provide a web and android based client at some (potentially distant) point in the future.

I hope gives you a rough outlook .. and welcome! :)

In #179, we only discussed making it run on MacOS. I don't have any access to the system though.
