It is possible to pass an alternative port to nvdashboard as the first argument, e.g

$ nvdashboard 8001

This should be documented in the README.

In Slurm scripts on HPC machines I have been using the following code.

NVDASHBOARD_PORT=8000
python -m jupyterlab_nvdashboard.server $NVDASHBOARD_PORT &
NVDASHBOARD_PID=$!
...
kill $NVDASHBOARD_PID
