i get strange count-intervals when setting startTime from an input field value for time-tracking over sessions. Any tip whats the problem?

    var checktime = $("#track_action").val();

    if(checktime != "start") 
    {
        $("#tracker").stopwatch({startTime: checktime}).stopwatch('start'); 
    }
