secret key generation problem

Following the instructions, I tried:

sed -i "s|extremesecretkey|$(openssl rand -hex 32)|g" searxng/settings.yml

but get this error:

sed: 1: "searxng/settings.yml": unterminated substitute in regular expression

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

In the scripts, we use:

sed -i -e "s/ultrasecretkey/$(openssl rand -hex 16)/g" searxng/settings.yml
