Welcome to Seller Labs!

And congratulations on becoming part of the Seller Labs community. This is a public documentation repository full of important information that will help you get started at Seller Labs and we encourage you to make yourself familiar with all the information here. Once we add you to the Seller Labs GitHub team, you'll have access to more detailed private repos as well. But really, the most important thing we want you to know is that your being here means you are the best at what you do. Our team members aren’t just smart, they’re brilliant and creative, which makes for a fantastic work environment.

So after you’ve read the details that follow, settle in, relax and get ready to have the best work experience of your life.

Sincerely,

The Seller Labs Team

Getting Started at Seller Labs

Before your first day:

  • You'll receive an offer letter to sign.

  • A criminal background investigation will be performed.

  • You'll be asked your preferred computer so it can be prepared for you.

  • You'll be assigned a [email protected] email address. Set that up.

  • You will receive a "Welcome Letter" from Human Resources that will cover instructions for your first day, payroll and benefit information.

When you start:

  • You should have received an invitation to the Seller Labs Slack - ask your team to invite you to the appropriate Slack channels.

  • DevOps should have set you up to the appropriate Google Apps groups and Calendars for Events and Leave: Seller Labs Events and Leave. Note that most of your teammates' calendars are also accessible to view by searching for their name in the left sidebar on Google Calendar. You can then toggle viewing their calendar on and off. This might be nice for someone you'll be pairing with a lot in your first weeks, or for your manager.

  • Hearing tons of terms and acronyms you don't know? Check out the Seller Labs Dictionary for help!

  • Check out this old presentation (from 2017!) to walk through the flow of our products, their individual use cases and possibilities, and how they align with our customer's needs.

  • Provide DevOps with your username for GitHub so they can add you to our teams. They may have created you one with your Seller Labs email.

  • As you are starting, you should review this document and all of the lounge repo for accuracy. Is anything here wrong? You can fix it!

  • Read this great thread on how to get started at a new job.

  • Over the course of the next two weeks, introduce yourself personally to 8 people. Ideally, this is a 10 - 15 minute conversation that is intended to break the ice. You can spin up a video call with folks in Slack over DM, and join #virtual-coffee to be automatically assigned for a chat.

Customer Success Onboarding:

  • Check your email. You should have an invite to Enterprise LastPass. It will be for (you)@sellerlabs.com. If you don't have it yet, ping @Buz. Follow the setup instructions for Passwords and Security.

  • Get someone to help you setup your account in the Seller Labs App. You can create a free account there yourself (with your SL email), and then DevOps can make you an admin user. Whoever is training you can help get this set up.

  • You will probably also get invites to things like Intercom and Mandrill. Be on the lookout for those.

Developer Onboarding:

Who to contact with questions:

Benefits, paycheck and HR questions: Karen Hogan ([email protected]) and Lindsay Tabor ([email protected])

Developer setup: Buz Dale ([email protected] / @Buz)

(All three of them are available on Slack as well!)
