Install: Get CoffeeScript up and running in a few minutes on Mac. Now also native install on Windows. Quick install on Mac and Windows. The versions mentioned in the install guide are those Smooth CoffeeScript has been tested with on Mac OS X 10.6 and Windows 7.

The node install includes a package manager: npm. Read the readme.md, especially the last paragraphs. If npm security concerns you then consider using a restricted user account, an outgoing firewall, a sandbox, jail or a virtual machine.

Web browser implementations of web sockets and the draft standard currently change regularly. Safari 5.1.1 works fully on both OS X and Windows. For other browsers see the src/prelude/prelude.coffee file and Windows Web Socket Status.
