Pull request ubccr#60 introduced a bug where usage tree nodes that were configured to be disabled were not. The change fixes the regression and restores the original behaviour.

Description
Pull request #60 introduced a bug where usage tree nodes that were configured to be disabled were not. The change fixes the regression and restores the original behaviour.
Also add automated tests to check that the code works.
