The parallel tests are problematic in travis because of the limited resources in the travis VM. For example, starting 5 VMs in parallel is extremely slow and breaks the build often. We should leave the serial tests which verify only the functionality and leave out the parallel ones for testing on-premises with better hardware.

I would say that we can try to mitigate these failures by reducing the parallelism (e.g., 2 VMs). Disabling these parallel tests completely is dangerous because then we would not be testing the concurrency control mechanisms
