Large numbers of .org.chromium.Chromium.xxxxxx files created under /tmp #601
Comments
It seems to be upstream issue, specifically chromium, there is a open issue ticket for it at https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=265642 which seems to fixed upstream. |
Hmm, it sounds like that ticket was fixed upstream 5 years ago -- unlikely to be the exact same bug (though obviously the same symptom). |
Happening on both Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 using the Zulip Desktop apt repository package. Is there any other information that might help with any investigation? I'd think this would be impacting a larger number of users, surprising there haven't been more reports. |
Okay, let me file it to the upstream and see if there is any fix for this. |
I'm using v3.0.1 of the desktop application, and the issue is very much still happening. |
I'm also on v3.0.1 and I'm still seeing the issue. |
I'm using the Debian package. |
I am also using the Debian package. |
The Zulip Electron app creates large numbers of
.org.chromium.Chromium.xxxxxx
files and directories under/tmp
, to the point where it can fill up a 1GB/tmp
partition within a day. The files all seem to be the same size (6.4MB). Deleting the files/directories doesn't appear to have any effect on the app, even if they are removed while it's running. No specific steps, just install and use the Zulip Electron app.
An example of some of the files and directories under /tmp:
