Скрин проблемы:

Описание и воспроизведение проблемы:

При попытке навесить placeholder на select, он пробрасывается внутрь, но фактически его не видно.

Также это видно и на live demo:

Здесь, если убрать стиль c input => visible: hidden и свойство [nullContent], то placeholder заработает
