As a developer, I want an understanding of how best to transmit data from Google Assistant to Home Assistant to IoT devices and back. May require additional research per device type.

Considerations:

Depends on #58, #44, #78

  • Home Assistant Cloud considerations:
    • I think this does exactly what we want it to do, but might completely eradicate the "cloud computing" aspect of this practicum. Research more then ask Kyle.
  • Public IP for EC2 instance running Home Assistant considerations:
    • Possible? yes (I think)
    • More difficult? yes
    • Probably the way we'll do it? I think so
  • VPN to connect local devices to cloud instance considerations:
  • VPC considerations:

Home Assistant -> interact with -> Google Assistant: Google Assistant SDK

control Home Assistant devices -> via -> Google Assistant: Google Assistant Integration
