Integrate Google Assistant/Home with Home Assistant

As a developer working with Home Assistant and Google Home, I want devices connected with GH to be controlled by HA so that it is easy to integrate the existing GH setup with HA.

Can we jump the gap of adding devices: Device->Google Home, Device->Home Assistant to be just: Device->Google Home-> Home Assistant?

It looks like this will take a bit more work: To use Google Assistant, your Home Assistant configuration has to be externally accessible with a hostname and SSL certificate

• HA scripts can be run using GH (for example "Lock my doors")
  • How to add scenes/scripts/automations
• HA instance is on remote EC2
• Document process and key chokepoints for reference later when helping Kyle set up
